Paris creative watercolor art retreat, perfect for women and solo travelers. Only 6 spots!

NEW DATES February 15-19 & November 8-12 2027

Love watercolor but put it on hold because life got in the way? This intimate, unforgettable 5‑day retreat for 6 people is designed to ignite your artistic spark and jump‑start your creative practice.

This includes developing the building blocks of watercolor by sketching stunning still life compositions, live models, museums, café culture and Paris. Whether you're a novice or an experienced artist, this retreat offers a nurturing environment free from judgment or the pressure to produce perfect masterpieces. It’s more about trusting the process, connecting with a like-minded group of supportive artists and immersing yourself in the beauty of Paris. You'll leave the retreat with a solid knowledge of watercolor technique and a collection of watercolors to take home with you.

Morning workshops will take place over a traditional French breakfast in an exclusive historic artist studio in the the heart of Montparnasse, a hub of creative exchange for young, international artists at the beginning of the 20th century including artists like Picasso, Kandinsky and Matisse to name a few. Afternoons are a time to source inspiration in some of the best museums in the World like the Musee d’Orsay, L’Orangerie, Fondation Louis Vuitton and lesser-known Parisian spots.

Spending a week with Jessie is a bespoke, intimate experience where students are welcomed into her world like old friends. Jessie is a gentle, thoughtful and confident teacher. Students are shepherded along, but left feeling capable, independent and inspired.”

Meet Jessie Kanelos Weiner

Watercolor artist in whimsical watercolor studio

Jessie Kanelos Weiner is a Franco-American watercolor illustrator (Vogue, The New Yorker, Cartier), author of Thinking in Watercolor, bestselling coauthor of Paris in Stride (over 30,000 copies sold) and art professor. Originally from Chicago, she has been based in Paris for 18 years. As a broke, lonely au pair, she found her artistic voice dissecting the unpleasantness of the city with her first set of Winsor & Newton watercolors. Spoiler alert: through drawing Paris, she’s learned to appreciate it deeply. She loves sharing her adopted city with students, the very place that kicked off her transformative journey.

As a beginner I was nervous to show up to my first art retreat, but entering the atelier felt like a dream—immediately it was intimate and special. Jessie created a supportive group for all artistic levels as she immersed us daily in art study and the beauty of the city around us. This week in Paris was a perfect match to light an art practice in me.”
